The American Society of Ocularists (ASO) is an international, non-profit, professional and educational organization founded in 1957 by medical professionals specializing in the fabricating and fitting of custom-made prosthetic eyes.  The organization was developed to advance the methods, techniques, and skills of its member ocularists.  The society was also formed to improve and promote research in the development of prosthetic eye technology and information.

Each member of the ASO adheres to the society’s standard operating procedures for the fitting and fabrication of custom-made prosthetic eyes.  These standards were developed by founding members and continue to be refined as new techniques become available.  A key benefit of membership in the ASO is the continuing education courses administered at each semi-annual conference.  These courses provide ocularists with a platform to learn and share new techniques, product development and patient care practices.

At Ocular Prosthetics, Inc. we are pleased to offer three Board Certified Ocularists and three Board Eligible Ocularists.  With a team approach to patient care, each patient receives the combined experience of over 100 years in the field.  This ensures that every person receives the highest quality, comfortably fitting and naturally appearing prosthetic eye available.  For more information on the services of Ocular Prosthetics, Inc. please call us at any of our five greater Los Angeles office locations:  Los Angeles, Encino, Orange, Torrance, and Santa Barbara.
